Default BMW Reveals i3 Range-Extending Engine Specs

BMW Reveals i3 Range-Extending Engine Specs

BMW has released partial specifications for the optional range-extended engine-fitted BMW i3. According to the German carmaker, the i3's two-cylinder gasoline engine range-extender will offer a driving range of up to 186 miles, double than the 80 to 100 miles warranted under sole electric power use.

The two-cylinder engine is reportedly sourced from the BMW's motorcycle division, but further information and extended specifications will be unveiled at the next month's Geneva Motor Show.

As we were telling you last December, the i3 production car will come with several standard systems, such as Self Parking, Adaptive Cruise Control, auto braking and Traffic Jam Assist. Rumor has it the BMW i3 will be priced between $43,000 and $50,000 in the United States.

Besided the i3, the Bavarian company will be joining the Swiss event with both i3 Concept Coupe and i8 Concept Spyder, the latter to be built in Leipzig along with the afore-mentioned vehicle.
