Default KLE charger replacement

In April 2017 my i3 REx had its [KLE] charge control unit replaced. This was because it no longer charged at 7.2Kw on my home wall charger. It did the full rate for a minute or two and then dropped to about 3Kw that obviously makes charging take much longer.

It was only today at a different BMW dealer that I found out more about what had been done at the original dealership and discovered the charge control module was called a KLE module. I looked on the internet and discovered a lot of issues in the USA with this KLE unit that seems to be on a replacement upgrade by BMW.

If your charging is taking longer than expected, check the charge rate on the electric meter supplied with the BMW wallbox.
